July 14th, 2008 edition of The Daily Sauce: Food and Wine. Visit Our Food and Wine Archive. Happy Herbs The rumors are true: We’re wanted in at least five states for killing houseplants. And that includes numerous attempts at growing a kitchen herb garden. But we may have found salvation in Sagaform’s Herb Pots. Both the single pot version and the new “trio” model let you display fresh-cut herbs on your kitchen counter, much the way a non-herbicidal cook might display a cute little indoor herb garden. And yes, you did detect a hint of a jealousy there. Anyway, we love that the white, ceramic pots are as sleek and Scandinavian as their maker, and we really love the discrete little “water hole” in the base of the pots that reminds us to hydrate our cut herbs to help them stay fresh for as long as possible. (We’ve had trouble with that whole watering thing in the past.) And now that our fresh herbs are right in front of us – instead of hiding out in the refrigerator – we just might remember to use them before they go bad.
