Peachy Keen

Next month is National Peach Month, but this week is when the Kirkwood Farmers’ Market goes nuts with the peaches. Unlike last year, when the Illinois and Missouri peach crop was curtailed by an Easter frost, this year’s supply is looking strong. Local and regional peach farmers will offer samples of their early crop as well as peach-related delights. You should probably buy a bunch from the market before this weekend so you can enter the Peach Pie Contest scheduled for noon on Saturday (you must make your pie from peaches purchased at the market). That should give plenty of time to find grandma’s pie recipe.

Sauce pick: Peach Festival & Pie Contest
Where to get it: Sat., July 12 –10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kirkwood Farmers’ Market, 150 E. Argonne Drive, Kirkwood
Info: To download the pie contest form, visit www.downtownkirkwood.com or call 314.822.0084.
