We haven’t looked at grocery lists the same way since devouring Bill Keaggy’s book Milk, Eggs, Vodka: Grocery Lists Lost and Found, and now he’s got us giggling again, this time about the fate of a sad-looking sofa, an abandoned stroller and a rejected recliner, not to mention 47 other discarded sit-upons that Keaggy took time to photograph. 50 Sad Chairs is, as described by Keaggy in the book’s intro, a project “about the life behind the things we leave behind.” you’ll likely be taken in by No. 26, Baby Sitter, depicting a child’s car seat nestled in the arms of an overstuffed chair. Then there’s No. 30, At Least We Have Each Other, which captures two long-lost pieces of living-room furniture stacked on top of each other. And, of course, No. 34, Worst Vacation Ever, is an instant classic: the photo of a pool-side chair in anything but a pool-side environment. Measuring in at just under 4 square inches, this book might be short in stature, but we can attest that it’s bursting Keaggy’s signature silliness. What: 50 Sad Chairs Where to get it: Many bookstores and novelty shops, www.amazon.com, and www.blueQ.com Cost: $5.99 Info: www.50sadchairs.com |
